The Truth About Me |
22. "Elvis answers back" | interview | 02:08 *4) | 1956 August 22 | "Love Me Tender" set, Hollywood |
|
*1) The rhythm track for "Let Me" was recorded on September 4 1956 with the track master being take 2.
Elvis recorded his vocal overdub to this track on September 5 with the master vocal being a splice of takes 3 and 4. |
|
*2) The master of "We're Gonna Move" is assembled from take 9 spliced with the last three bars of take 4,
recorded on August 24, the first part of a 'men's chorus remake' overdub take 2 and also has 'handclaps' overdubbed, both recorded on August 27. |
|
*3) The master of "Poor Boy" is a composite of take 3 recorded on August 24 1956 and a 'third verse vocal overdub' take 6,
recorded on September 5. Elvis had attempted to remake "Poor Boy" on September 4, but this was abondoned after one take. |
|
*4) The original "The Truth About Me" promotional cardboard disc, when issued in the US attached to the "Elvis Answers Back" magazine
in November 1956, and later as a flex-disc in "Teen Parade" magazine, had the additional line "I want to thank all of my loyal fans who have
watched my performances, and in that way became friends of mine" just before he says "I sure appreciate you listening to my RCA Victor
records" at the end. This dialogue does not appear on "The Truth About Me" included on this CD as a bonus track, which is the same as
on the "Elvis Answers Back" magazine/CD set, "The Young Man With The Big Beat" box-set and the FTD book "The Best Of British 1956-1958. |
