Independence Day 1954 is when this uniquely American saga begins, less than 24 hours before his first professional recording session, and it ends in December 1955, when the rights to Elvis' SUN tapes officially expire, and the singer leaves Sam Phillips to record for RCA.
This is Elvis Presley before he becomes world-famous, and the mystery of how this amazing young man readies himself for stardom, achieving success on a level that no one could have dreamed possible.

41. When It Rains It Pours vocal slapback tape take 8 01:40 1955 November 1-4
*1) Originally, RCA's Steve Sholes had the session for "Harbor Lights" as comprising six takes, and the session for "Blue Moon" listed four takes. However, the takes have now been renumbered and each individual false start is listed as a seperate take.
*2) A new transfer of the original master tape used for "A Boy From Tupelo" revealed that the "Too Much Vaseline" dialogue, peviously thought to come from the outtake of "I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin')", actually came from before the alternate, slow version of "Blue Moon of Kentucky".
*3) According to Steve Sholes' original notes, the following number of takes were definitely recorded on each of the following tracks during the 1954 September sessions:
      Satisfied 1 take
I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin') 10 takes
I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine 3 takes
      Just Because 17 takes
      Good Rockin' Tonight 2 takes
To date, no recording of "Satisfied" has ever turned up. However, the recording of it was handed over to RCA though, as Steve Sholes' notes testify.
*4) "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone" was recorded between mid-November 1954 and mid-April 1955 at Sun Studio, Memphis. The reel has March 5 written on it, but Elvis was at the Louisiana Hayride that day.
*5) Just before take 1 of "How Do You Think I Feel" Scotty Moore can be heard playing the "Blues Stay Away From Me" riff, as used on the slow version of "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone", so it is possible that the slow version could have been recorded at the same session.
*6) Although more commonly known as "When It Rains, It Really Pours", The actually title of the song is "When It Rains It Pours", which is how it finally appeared on "A Boy From Tupelo".

*1) For the songs from January 15, January 22, March 5 and July 2 1955, some parts were duplicated and edited to create near-complete performances.
*2) Although the radio commercial with Tom Perryman is situated in January 1955 in the tracking list, it is thought to be from early August 1955.
*3) Although "Baby Let's Play House" is listed as being from Eagles Hall on March 19 1955, it could actually be from a different performance that same week.
Just as this set was being shipped to suppliers by FTD, a previously unknown live performance of "I Forgot To Rembember To Forget" (from October 29, 1955) appeared out of nowhere on YouTube, but it was too late to be included in this set.
