** The master take numbers of "The First Noel", "On A Snowy Christmas Night" and "The Wonderful World Of Christmas" are not known, as the tape (reel #2) containing the first six takes of "Winter Wonderland", along with possibly some takes of "On A Snowy Christmas Night", was re-used on May 20. Also, the tape (reel #4) containing outtakes for "The First Noel" and "The Wonderful World Of Christmas" is missing with no indication as to what happened to it. The master take number for the remake of "I'll Be Home On Christmas Day" is also not known. |
*1) The sequence of recording for "Silver Bells" is a rehearsal and false start, which is announced as take 1, then another rehearsal which is announced as take 2, then the proper take 1 which is announced again as take 1. This is what is listed as being 'takes 1 & 2' (cd 1 track 17) on the cover. Then they continue the session whith the proper take 2, which is used as the master. |

*1) On May 16 Elvis sang an extra verse on the first few 'country' takes of "I'll Be Home On Christmas Day", and then that verse was omitted from take 4 onwards, because Felton Jarvis said the song was too long. The master was then cut (take 8) without that verse being included. |
*2) On June 10 Elvis re-recorded "I'll Be Home On Christmas Day" again in a 'blues' tempo, but started off using the same (unused) verse. After take 9, someonen decided, again for whatever reason, to leave out that verse, and the 'blues' master was cut without that verse. The extra verse of is as follows: |
It's been so long since I've seen little John, Michelle, Christine and Karen, (I almost) Forgot all the presents that I bought, a purse for little sister to carry. (If) I could set aside my pride, I'd just be on my way, I'd be on that (Catch that) train tomorrow, I'll be home on Christmas day. |
*3) The informal recording of Elvis singing "The Lord's Prayer" is actually take 5 of "I'll Be Home On Christmas Day" from the May 16 session. |
