*1) The master of "Wearin' That Loved On Look" is take 15, recorded on January 14, but Elvis' vocals were removed from this, leaving only a backing track. Elvis then recorded new vocals to this track on January 21, although the original take 15 was also kept on this tape. Thus the final master was a composite of original and replaced vocals, as follows: replaced vocals (0:00-1:06), original vocals (1:07-1:22), replaced vocals (1:23-2:48) |
*2) The master of "Only The Strong Survive" is take 29, recorded on January 20, but Elvis' did a vocal repair on this, possibly on January 22, with the parts 0:00-2:27 and 2:41-2:56 being spliced tgether and used for the final master. |
*3) The master take of "I'll Hold You In My Heart" is actually two false starts and a complete take, without any overdubs. |
*4) The master of "Long Black Limousine" is take 9, recorded on January 13, but Elvis' did a vocal repair (from "through tear filled eyes / watch..." to end the song) on January 22, but the final master was faded. |
*5) The master of "I'm Movin' On" is take 2, recorded on January 14, but Elvis' vocals were removed from this, leaving only a backing track, to which a steel guitar was then overdubbed on January 19. Elvis then recorded new vocals to this track on January 22, although the original take 2 was also kept on this tape. Therefore, the final master was a composite of original and replaced vocals, as follows: original vocals (0:00-0:53), replaced vocals (0:53-2:43) |
*6) The master of "Gentle On My Mind" was originally recorded on January 15, but had a track/vocal replacement overdub on January 20, along with further overdubs later. |
*7) The master of "True Love Travels On A Gravel Road" is take 11, recorded on February 17, but had a harmony vocal overdub by Elvis recorded on February 22, along with further overdubs done later. |
*8) The master of "Any Day Now" is take 6, recorded on February 21, but Elvis' did a vocal repair in the middle part (from 1:27 "I know I shouldn't want to keep you...") to 2:27 ("...love won't let me down, 'cause you won't be around") on January 22. |
*9) The master of "In The Ghetto" is take 22, recorded on January 20, but Elvis' vocals were removed from this, leaving only a backing track. Elvis then recorded new vocals to this track on January 22. |
*10) Take 1 of "Any Day Now" is a false start and a long false start, although only the false start is included here. |
